People, teams, and reporting relationships serve different purposes. A person's role controls their permissions; their manager determines managerial scope; their team supports organization and team reporting.

## Find a person

Choose **Directory** to see current members or **Pending invitations** to check people who have not joined. Search appears on the left below these views; **Filter** narrows the directory by role or manager. **Invite people** stays on the right of the same toolbar. On a phone, search takes its own row above the controls.

Managers see **My team**, with **Direct reports** and **Pending invitations**. Its search, training-progress filter, and invitation action use the same layout.

Choose a view, then search or filter its records. Fictional workspace counts shown.

## Invite people

Open **People** and choose **Invite people**. Managers see an invitation flow for trainees in their scope; admins can invite trainees, managers, or admins.

Enter the intended email addresses, select the appropriate role and available manager or team options, and review before sending. Use the invitation list to check status. If delivery fails or an invitation expires, use its retry action rather than creating duplicate invitations.

An invited person must sign in with the email address that received the invitation. A pending invitation is not the same as an active membership.

## Roles and reporting relationships

Admins can update a member's role, manager, and team through that person's controls. Check the consequences before changing access:

- A manager can manage only the people assigned to them.
- Managers can edit scenarios they created; admins can manage workspace scenarios.
- A team label alone does not grant manager permissions or access to private results.

Lira prevents changes that would leave the workspace without an active admin. Arrange replacement admin access before removing or demoting its last admin.

## Teams and training

Admins can create teams for organization and reporting, then associate people with them. Keep names recognizable to the people who use the workspace.

Use [Assignments](https://lira.thoughtly.com/docs/manage-training/assignments) to choose the training people should complete. Team membership and training assignments are related organizational tools, but they are not interchangeable.

## Remove access carefully

Use the member or invitation controls to remove access or revoke an unused invitation when authorized. Review the confirmation before proceeding. Removed members cannot continue using that workspace, and access to their shared results may change.

For sign-in problems, send the person to [access troubleshooting](https://lira.thoughtly.com/docs/troubleshooting/access).
