Design scoring and certificate requirements
Define observable skills and a fair, explicit standard for completing a scenario.

A good rubric describes behavior a learner can demonstrate in the conversation. The certificate requirements define which parts of that rubric must be met to qualify.
Write a useful rubric
In the scenario editor, review each skill's name, What good looks like, observable behaviors, and optional example. Keep skills distinct enough that the same behavior is not counted repeatedly.
For example, “Ask about the buyer's current workflow and its impact” is easier to assess than “Be excellent at discovery.” Use examples to clarify the standard, not to require one exact script.
Skills are scored out of 100 and weighted equally in the overall average. Every selected skill, including custom skills, receives a numeric score when usable dialogue is captured. A skill not demonstrated receives zero and remains in the average.
Choose the qualification gates
In Scoring & certificate, use Pass requirements to choose whether an overall score and the conversation goal are required. The Required / Optional switches change the requirement immediately in your draft. Turning the overall-score requirement back on restores its previous value.
Enter a minimum overall score from 0 to 100; decimal scores are supported. A score of 0 is still a requirement. Clearing the field removes that requirement.
Under Skills to grade, set a Pass minimum only for skills that must be passed. Leave it blank to keep the skill in the rubric without making it a separate certificate requirement. Use the pencil to edit a skill, the trash icon to remove it, or Add custom skill at the bottom of the list. Removing a skill also removes its pass minimum. Every remaining skill still contributes equally to the overall score.
Set the requirements that matter for this scenario:
- A minimum overall score, if needed.
- Minimum scores for particular skills, where appropriate.
- Achievement of the scenario's desired outcome, when required.
All applicable requirements must be assessed and met within one attempt. Scores from separate calls are not combined. A performance score does not automatically award a certificate: incomplete capture or missing evidence of the required outcome cannot establish eligibility.
Set the certificate details
Review the certificate title and choose an expiry tile: No expiry, 6 months, 1 year, or 2 years. Existing custom expiry periods stay selected until you change them. Workspace-level issuer, logo, and accent color are managed separately in Certificate design.
Use an author preview to test the conversation before publishing. A preview does not earn a learner certificate. Check that learners have a realistic opportunity to demonstrate each required skill during the configured call length.
Changes apply to a new version
Saving a changed published scenario creates a new version. Existing assignments and attempts keep their original scoring standard; editing today's rubric does not rescore yesterday's call.
Share the learner scoring guide when introducing the scenario so people know what they are practicing toward.
